"account": "Indianapolis – After Colts star receiver Alec Pierce suffered a reaggravated heel injury, general manager Chris Ballard seemed to have a plan. Darius Slayton, with his impressive seven-year career and 106 NFL games, was seen as the band-aid needed for the passing game. However, two weeks after signing, he has yet to make the gameday roster. Slayton told IndyStar that spending his initial two weeks on the sidelines was not what he expected, but he believes the decision was the right one. The Giants released Slayton on September 7, the Monday of the season's first week, and he continued working out, hoping for a call. This came when Pierce went down, and Slayton was already in Indianapolis with wide receivers coach Reggie Wayne. Fitness posed the initial challenge, with Slayton stating he is now performing at his best. Despite the Colts managing to win twice without Slayton, Slayton feels ready and believes he can help the team win. The urgency for him to play is evident, but he admits his teammates might need more time to get used to his situational plays.",
