"account": "Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed his gratitude to former military Head of State, Sani Abacha, for his role in the creation of the state. In an address at the 'Ekiti at 30 Future Summit' in Ado Ekiti, the governor stated that without Abacha, Ekiti State would not have been formed. Ekiti State was established on October 1, 1996, as part of the old Ondo State during Abacha's military regime. The governor highlighted the achievements of Ekiti's people across various sectors, including education, public administration, commerce, agriculture, culture, and national service. He emphasized that the state's leaders effectively advocated for its creation, citing the contributions of traditional rulers, community leaders, professionals, academics, political actors, and women organizations. Oyebanji acknowledged that some may disagree with his next statement, but he firmly believes that it is the truth that they owe a debt of gratitude to Abacha, who was the Head of State when the state was created.",
