"summary": "Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud, an 18-year-old man from Minnesota, was arrested by the FBI for planning an ISIS-inspired mass shooting at the Mall of America. According to the New Straits Times, Mohamud had intended to kill 30 to 60 people at an event at the mall in late October. He had purchased an AK-47, ammunition, and magazines from an FBI undercover agent for $600.\n\nMohamud had been under FBI investigation since December 2024, as reported by Punch Nigeria. During this time, he expressed his desire to travel overseas to fight on behalf of al-Shabaab, a designated foreign terrorist organisation, or to carry out a mass shooting in the US. He later stated his interest in supporting ISIS. Mohamud allegedly believed the Mall of America was Jewish-owned and wanted to kill non-Muslims, as stated by Arutz Sheva - Israel National News.\n\nThe FBI supplied Mohamud with the assault rifle he planned to use, and he was arrested on Tuesday after purchasing the weapons. According to PBS NewsHour, FBI agents had been monitoring him for nearly two years. Mohamud was charged with one count of knowingly receiving a firearm and ammunition in order to commit an act of terrorism.",
