"summary": "Syria is considering sending troops to Yemen to fight the Houthis, according to reports. The idea is being discussed between Saudi Arabia and Syria, with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa seriously considering the move, although a final decision has not been made.\n\nThe discussions have also involved the US, with three US officials stating that the Trump administration has been consulted and is not opposed in principle to Syrian troops being deployed. The possible deployment was reportedly discussed during a meeting between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and al-Sharaa in Riyadh.\n\nThe proposed deployment could inject a religious dimension into the Yemen war, with the Syrian troops potentially including Islamist Sunni foreign fighters who previously fought against the Assad regime, and who would be fighting against the Houthis, who follow Zaydi Shiite Islam, according to Axios.",
