"summary": "Oman's air force has evacuated 10 crew members of a Panamanian-flagged oil tanker, the On Peace, after it was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the Qatar Tribune, the tanker was struck 9 nautical miles from the Omani coast.\n\nThe incident is part of a recent surge in attacks on tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz, with nearly 20 commercial ships coming under attack over the past month, as reported by the Hellenic Shipping News. The Joint Maritime Information Center, a group of U.S.-allied militaries, provides security updates to merchant vessels.\n\nThe security situation in Hormuz remains a concern, with oil flows now dependent on a major U.S. military commitment to protect tankers transiting along a southern route along the coast of Oman, the Hellenic Shipping News reports. Some tankers are using a shuttle system, transferring oil onto ships in the Gulf of Oman that haul it to Asia, to reduce exposure to attack.",
