"account": "A leading disability rights group has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to grant Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) a one-week special extension to register as voters ahead of the 2027 general elections. Emmanuel Aduku, the National Coordinator of the National Prayer Support Group for Good Governance, expressed disappointment over the limited number of registered PWDs in Nigeria, stating that out of over 103 million voters, only 232,658 are persons with disabilities. The group called for special measures during the proposed extension, including priority access, mobility support, outreach to schools for the deaf and blind, and door-to-door mobilization. They acknowledged the responsibility of PWD leadership and advocacy groups but emphasized that government institutions must also ensure that persons with disabilities are not left behind in the democratic process.",
