"account": "Masuk softball coach Leigh Barone has been hired as the head coach at Law softball, according to an announcement on Wednesday. Barone concluded her 10-year tenure at Masuk following the 2025 season, having led the team to an unparalleled 179-7 record and seven state championships.\n\nHer departure followed a dominant run at Masuk, where Masuk won every Class L championship from 2018 to 2025. Barone replaces Melanie Blude, who had been leading the team for 19 seasons until her administrative leave last season.\n\nAt Law, Barone takes over a program that finished last season with a 21-5 record, though they were eliminated in the SCC championship game and the Class L semifinals. During her time at Masuk, Barone's teams amassed a 233-27 record, winning seven state championships and seven SWC titles. In 2023, they broke the state record for consecutive CIAC titles with their fifth straight championship.\n\nBarone received numerous accolades for her coaching, including CHSCA Coach of the Year honors in 2018 and 2024, GametimeCT Coach of the Year in both years, and the Connecticut Sports Media Alliance's Doc McInerney Female Coach of the Year. She also received the inaugural GametimeCT Coach of the Year for Girls Sports.\n\nAt Masuk, Barone taught Spanish and coached 18 student-athletes who went on to play at the collegiate level, including standout players Kat Gallant and Julia Bacoulis.",
