"summary": "Syria is considering providing military assistance to Saudi Arabia as it battles the Iran-aligned Houthis in Yemen. According to a US official and a Syrian military official, options being considered include defensive aid to protect Saudi Arabia from attacks or deployment of forces to help Saudi-backed Yemeni troops fight the Houthis. Saudi Arabia has requested that Syria deploy forces to fight the Houthis, the US official said.\n\nA Syrian diplomat stated that Syria stands firmly with Saudi Arabia in the face of Houthi attacks, but the government's primary focus is on domestic priorities such as recovery from the country's civil war. The diplomat added that any military cooperation or exchange of expertise with Saudi Arabia would take place exclusively through official channels and within the framework of bilateral agreements.\n\nMeanwhile, other countries have also offered to support Saudi Arabia in its conflict with the Houthis. According to DW English, Pakistan and Turkey have agreed to provide practical measures to defend Saudi Arabia against Houthi attacks, as part of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed in August 2026. The US Embassy in Saudi Arabia has also warned American citizens to exercise heightened vigilance due to public threats by the Houthi movement against airports and airspace across the Kingdom.",
