"account": "Oregon's men's basketball program is currently in a period of transition following head coach Dana Altman's retirement announcement. With only a few weeks remaining before the 2026-27 season starts, the Ducks have appointed assistant Tony Stubblefield as interim head coach. Stubblefield, while experienced, is not expected to be a long-term solution, prompting Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens to consider other candidates. Five potential long-term candidates have emerged: Josh Schertz from Saint Louis, Russell Turner from UC Irvine, Travis Steele from Miami (OH), Bryce Drew from Grand Canyon, and Quinton Crawford from the Portland Trail Blazers. Each coach brings unique strengths to the table, with Schertz and Steele's recent successes at top programs, Turner's stability and familiarity with the West Coast, Drew's proven track record of leading teams deep into the NCAA Tournament, and Crawford's young energy and potential. As the search process unfolds, Oregon will likely explore these candidates in greater depth to find the right fit for the future of their men's basketball program.",
