"account": "Glen Powell, in a new Esquire profile, has stated he has no interest in engaging in political conversations as a movie star, claiming, \"My calling is elsewhere.\" Powell explained that he found politics to be divisive and unproductive, stating, \"People trying to prove their point — for me, it’s the worst version of a conversation. I genuinely do not like the discourse. It’s not as healthy as it once was.\" He added, \"If I were a political person, I would be talking about it. For me, my calling is elsewhere.\" Powell's stance echoes the way he was raised, as his parents rarely discussed politics at the dinner table. He remarked to Esquire, \"Thank God.\" During the interview, Powell also discussed the underwhelming box office performance of his 2025 film \"The Running Man.\" He attributed the film's poor results to behind-the-scenes marketing changes at Paramount, citing mass layoffs that occurred a month before the movie's release amidst a merger. Powell is not alone in his aversion to public political statements; Jennifer Lawrence echoed similar sentiments in November 2025, telling The New York Times she would avoid political discussions, citing the lack of impact individuals have on elections.",
