"account": "Former Richmond mayor and ANC Regional Task Team member Samora Ndlovu was shot multiple times while traveling on the R56 road near Thornville on Tuesday night. Police are treating the incident as an attempted murder. Ndlovu, 43, was en route to Pietermaritzburg in a white BMW when another vehicle allegedly obstructed his path, prompting an occupant to exit the vehicle and fire several shots at Ndlovu's car. The attacker is described as an occupant of a vehicle that blocked the path of Ndlovu's car. Ndlovu was initially taken to Richmond Clinic before being transferred to St Anne’s Hospital in Pietermaritzburg for further medical attention. Police have officially registered a case of attempted murder. Ndlovu has previously held positions within the ANC, including serving as the regional secretary of the Moses Mabhida Region and the secretary of the ANC’s regional executive committee. He is currently a member of the ANC’s Regional Task Team in KwaZulu-Natal. This incident comes at a time of growing concern over attacks on political figures in KwaZulu-Natal, where several politicians and public representatives have faced violent incidents in recent years.",
