"account": "US President Donald Trump indicated on Tuesday that he would \"definitely look\" into the possibility of establishing a permanent US military base in Lithuania, a Baltic nation located at the eastern edge of NATO. Trump's comments came after Lithuania's Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius discussed the matter with John Coale, an envoy to neighboring Belarus, who shared that Vilnius is seeking the presence of US troops to counter Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine and a range of hybrid threats, including drone incursions and the misuse of migration by Belarus. Sinkevičius expressed his happiness that the idea \"is not rejected by President Trump,\" adding that Lithuania is prepared to offer the best possible conditions for US soldiers. Around 1,000 US soldiers are scheduled to arrive in Lithuania by the end of October for a nine-month rotational deployment, with similar bases already in place in Estonia and Poland. Lithuanian officials, including Sinkevičius, are actively seeking a permanent US presence, following a similar decision by neighboring Poland. Meanwhile, Germany is set to host a brigade of around 5,000 troops in Lithuania by the end of 2027, although the country has faced challenges in recruiting personnel willing to serve in Lithuania.",
