"account": "The Federal Nigeria Society for the Blind is organizing an Independence Ball and fundraising event on October 9 at the Shell Zenith Hall in Lagos. The organization, established in 1955, seeks to empower visually impaired individuals through rehabilitation, education, and skill acquisition. Funds raised at the event will cover the costs of providing residential, educational, mobility, and vocational training for each trainee, with the current annual expense per trainee exceeding N1.5 million. The event aims to showcase the talents and achievements of visually impaired persons to inspire awareness and social change, while challenging societal misconceptions surrounding visual disability.
