"account": "Haiti, plagued by gang violence and political turmoil, has indefinitely postponed its upcoming elections. The Caribbean nation, the poorest in the Americas, has not held elections since 2016, with the last president assassinated in 2021. The electoral process, originally scheduled for December 13 and February 21, 2027, has been put on hold by the Provisional Electoral Council, which has not disclosed a new date. Voter registration, however, continues. As of Tuesday, only 769,000 voters had registered since the process began on July 20. The postponement is attributed to technical and operational requirements, as well as conditions necessary for proper conduct of the elections. Despite this setback, many Haitians remain hopeful for the return of democracy, expressing concern over rampant gang crime and insecurity.",
