"account": "The acting secretary of the U.S. Army announced on Tuesday that Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, convicted of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting rampage, will be executed by firing squad on December 3. Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, killed 13 people and injured over 30 at a medical building where soldiers were getting checkups. He shouted \"Allahu akbar\" before opening fire. This will be the first execution by firing squad in the U.S. military since 1961, as the military hasn't carried out the death penalty since then. President Donald Trump approved the execution, prompting a series of procedural steps. Hasan could still halt the process with a habeas corpus appeal in a civilian federal court, potentially delaying it for years.",
