"summary": "A 37-year-old man, Jahangir Sharifabadi, appeared in court on Monday, charged with a series of offenses following an alleged random attack on a Melbourne tram. The incident occurred around midday on a route 1 tram heading to South Melbourne, where Sharifabadi is accused of stabbing a 51-year-old woman in the neck with a steak knife. Passengers' screams alerted the driver, who promptly stopped the tram. A witness stated that two other passengers restrained Sharifabadi until police arrived, arresting him at gunpoint. The woman suffered a serious but non-life-threatening stab wound to her neck. Sharifabadi, who was on bail at the time of the incident, was described by his lawyer as suffering from schizophrenia and in need of a nurse's care. He will remain in custody until his next court appearance later this month.",
