"account": "Manitoba artists enjoyed a stellar year, as they took home a number of top awards at the Western Canadian Music Awards (WCMAs) held in Victoria. The award-winning acts included pop artist Begonia, francophone artist Jocelyn Baribeau, video director Taylor Brown, Brandon-raised Fontine, and the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra (WJO).\n\nBegonia was awarded \"Pop Artist of the Year,\" while Jocelyn Baribeau received the \"Francophone Artist of the Year\" accolade. Taylor Brown was recognized as \"Video Director of the Year,\" and Fontine was honored as both \"Rock Artist of the Year\" and \"Indigenous Artist of the Year.\" The WJO won the Western Canada's jazz artist of the year title for the second consecutive year.\n\nThe success of Manitoba artists was attributed to their diverse experiences and artistic expressions. Sean Irvine, the creator of the WJO's album \"Forgotten Stories Suite,\" blended spoken word, instrumental soundscapes, and sung vocals to tell stories of queer experiences. Irvine's artistic journey was inspired by his personal background as a queer, Métis individual, and his experiences in Toronto and Brandon.\n\nThe WCMAs also acknowledged the behind-the-scenes professionals who contribute to the music industry. Birthday Cake Records, which represents several Manitoba artists, received awards for \"Impact in Artist Development\" and \"Impact in Music Marketing.\" Paquin Artists Agency won the award for \"Impact in Live Music.\"",
