"account": "Calgary Stampeders kicker Rene Paredes announced on Tuesday that he will retire at the conclusion of the 2026 season. Paredes, a two-time Grey Cup winner and five-time Canadian Football League (CFL) all-star, has played his entire 15-year career with Calgary, making him the team's longest-tenured active player. He currently ranks second in franchise history for seasons played, games played (253), points (2,535), field goals (649), and successful field goal conversions (547). Standing at 87.7 per cent in career field goal attempts and 94.6 per cent in successful converts, Paredes added 59 touchdowns during his tenure. The 41-year-old Venezuelan native was named the league's outstanding special teams player in 2013 and played pivotal roles in Calgary's victories in the 2014 and 2018 Grey Cups. Paredes' final game of the regular season is scheduled for October 17th against the B.C. Lions at McMahon Stadium. \"This wasn't easy, but I've made the decision that this season will be my last,\" Paredes stated in a team release. \"Playing for the city of Calgary has been such an honour, and I cannot wait to finish the year strong.\" Reflecting on his career, Paredes expressed gratitude for the experiences and the support he received throughout his journey.",
