Municipal Chief Executive William Kofi Adzowu led the operation, assisted by police, Assembly staff and demolition machinery. Many had operated at the site for over 27 years and had invested heavily in their enterprises. He contended that the proposed demolition was detrimental to the interests of the residents and traders affected.
