"account": "Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has announced his administration's plan to eliminate the fuel subsidy if elected in 2027. This was stated during an interview with the BBC on Tuesday. The fuel subsidy was removed by President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023. Obi, alongside other opposition figures, had called for the removal of the subsidy, arguing that it was not in the best interest of the nation. Speaking on the issue, Obi stated, \"From day one, I've talked about subsidy. I talked about corruption; corruption is the problem of subsidy.\" When asked if he would bring back the subsidy, Obi affirmed his stance, but insisted that he would fight against the alleged corruption linked to it.",
