"account": "Ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that Lagos, Kano, and Kaduna states have the highest number of registered voters. During a press conference in Abuja, INEC chairman Prof Joash Amupitan shared this information, stating that Nigeria is Africa's largest democracy, boasting over 103 million registered voters. The chairman explained that the three phases of the Comprehensive Voter Registration (CVR) exercise led to 10.77 million new voter registrations, bringing the total to 103 million. According to Amupitan, Lagos State has the most registered voters with 7.48 million, followed by Kano State with 6.57 million and Kaduna State with 4.66 million. Other top 10 states with the highest registered voters include Katsina, Rivers, Oyo, Delta, Benue, Ogun, Bauchi, Ekiti, Bayelsa, and FCT. The voter demographic is predominantly male (51.75%), with the majority being aged between 35 and 49 (41.83%). The voter register will be available for public scrutiny from October 9 to 16, 2026, and the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will begin on the same day.",
