"summary": "The Nigerian Air Force has opened a condolence register at its conference centre in Kado, Abuja, in response to the tragic ATR-42 aircraft crash in Ondo State that claimed the lives of all 32 people on board. The NAF acknowledged the outpouring of sympathy, prayers, and solidarity from Nigerians and well-wishers both at home and abroad, expressing gratitude for the support that has provided strength to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of the victims. The Air Force also paid tribute to the deceased, highlighting their service to the country as marked by honour, dedication, and distinction. The aircraft, carrying 25 passengers and seven crew members, crashed into a swampy area during a routine mission from Benin City to Lagos on Monday, October 5, 2026, shortly after losing contact with air traffic controllers at around 9.13 am. President Bola Tinubu has since expressed condolences to the families and directed the Nigerian Air Force to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash.",
