"account": "US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Iceland on Tuesday, describing the island as a critical outpost for security during his trip. Rubio emphasized that Iceland has long been instrumental in monitoring clandestine activities and deterring adversaries. He met with Icelandic Prime Minister Kristjana Þorsteinsdóttir and top diplomat Thorgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdóttir, discussing subjects like geothermal energy, data centers, and the pharmaceutical industry. The visit comes after US President Donald Trump stirred the power balance in the Arctic region by making threats to buy or annex Greenland. In September, the US signed a security pact with Denmark and Greenland, allowing Washington to establish two new military bases in the autonomous Danish territory. This move further integrates Greenland into the US orbit. Following the trip, Rubio heads to Athens to engage in a strategic dialogue with NATO member Greece on regional and energy security.",
