"summary": "France has pledged an additional €7 million to aid the fight against the Ebola crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), bringing its total contribution for the year to €23 million. The announcement was made by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, who visited the country to show support for local authorities and humanitarian workers. Meanwhile, Kenya reported its first-ever Ebola death, with a man who had received treatment in the DRC before travelling to Uganda. Kenyan Health Minister Aden Duale assured the public not to panic, stating that systems are in place to mitigate the spread of the disease. Doctors Without Borders warned of an alarming surge in Ebola cases in North Kivu, calling for more treatment capacity. The DRC declared its 17th Ebola outbreak in mid-May, with the virus having already killed over 15,000 people in Africa over the past 50 years.",
