"account": "The newly elected state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt is set to convene for the first time after a far-right party secured a significant victory in recent elections. The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party holds a majority of seats, with 39 out of the total 89, enabling them to nominate their first candidate for the position of state parliament speaker. The populist BSW party, holding 5 seats, has pledged its support for the AfD's nominee, Tobias Rausch, 35. However, other parties are unwilling to cooperate with the AfD due to a policy known as the \"firewall\". The session will be met with protests from civil society groups who view the AfD as a threat to Germany's democracy.",
"summary": "At its first session, the new state parliament in Saxony-Anhalt is to vote on a speaker nominated by the far-right AfD. The foreign minister has warned that the climate crisis could fuel extremism. DW has more.",
