The legislation was presented by Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan after an oral question-and-answer session earlier in the day. The primary objective of the bill is to authorize the utilization of funds from the Consolidated Fund to finance government services in the year 2027. Amir Hamzah announced that the bill would be considered for its second reading at 3:30 pm this Friday by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who concurrently holds the position of Finance Minister. Following Friday's tabling, a policy-stage debate on the 2027 Budget is scheduled to take place from October 12 to 22. This will be succeeded by ministerial winding-up sessions from October 26 to 29. Subsequently, the debate will transition to the committee stage from November 2 to 26.
