"account": "The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that Nigeria's voter register had grown to over 103 million eligible voters, following the completion of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed this during a strategic workshop in Abuja. The CVR exercise added 10,772,421 new registrations to the register. The final Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) cleanup was completed, bringing the total number of registered voters to over 103 million. The nationwide collection of Permanent Voters' Cards will commence on October 9, 2026. INEC also acquired 57,000 new Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices to optimize the electoral process, with improved software, battery optimization, and biometric calibration. The commission is taking strong measures against vote-buying, collaborating with various agencies to prevent illegal campaign spending and monitor polling units. INEC aims to hold simultaneous voting across all polling units in Nigeria, addressing logistical challenges and enhancing technology to ensure a smooth election process.",
