"account": "A Toronto police officer, Inspector Michael Hayles, faces an impaired driving charge following his arrest for being found asleep behind the wheel of a stopped vehicle. The incident occurred on Sunday around 6 a.m., when police responded to a call regarding a person sleeping at the wheel in the vicinity of Laird Drive and Eglinton Avenue East. It was confirmed by police that Hayles was off duty at the time of his arrest. The 51-year-old inspector, who has served with the police force for 30 years and was assigned to 55 Division, has been suspended with pay in compliance with the Community Safety and Policing Act. The Senior Officers Organization, representing senior officers and civilian members of the Toronto Police Service, declined to comment on Hayles’s situation but affirmed that the officer who apprehended Hayles \"took the appropriate steps.\" One such senior officer, President Clayton Campbell, emphasized the rarity of such an arrest, stating that no police officer wishes to apprehend a fellow member, especially one who is several ranks higher.",
