"summary": "TikTok has introduced two new shopping features: a conversational AI agent called Shopping Assistant and a one-click in-app checkout feature called Buy Direct. The Shopping Assistant helps users find and buy products by providing real-time guidance on product details, shipping, sizing, and availability. According to TechCrunch, it understands context and remembers users' preferences throughout the conversation.\n\nThe Buy Direct feature allows users to make purchases directly from brands in their For You feed with just one click. This enables users to buy products without leaving the app, potentially allowing TikTok to capture more of users' shopping journeys and transaction value.\n\nTikTok says these features are being built in partnership with commerce partners, although Techmeme does not have details on the partnerships. The new features aim to turn TikTok's discovery feed into a platform where users can get answers to product questions and make purchases on the spot.",
