"summary": "Elaina Richardson, the president of Yaddo, the prestigious artist retreat, is stepping down after 26 years at the helm. The renowned institution, celebrating its 100th anniversary, has been home to numerous influential artists including James Baldwin, Truman Capote, Sylvia Plath, Leonard Bernstein, Jacob Lawrence, and Philip Guston. Richardson's tenure has seen the residency navigate financial challenges, increase its endowment, diversify its resident pool, and adapt to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. She will be succeeded by Cyra Levenson, deputy director of Learning and Engagement at the Guggenheim Museum. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Richardson's journey from a working-class background to leading one of the most esteemed art institutions in the United States highlights her unique trajectory in the professional world.",
