"account": "Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has spoken out against paying ransom to bandits who abducted his brothers Yusuf and Amba. In an interview, Lawal emphasized that he would not give money to criminals and that such payments only empower them, encouraging further abductions. The governor explained that he made this stance clear to his family, but did not impose it on others. After negotiations failed, the kidnappers reduced their demands, ultimately asking for a ₦150,000 recharge card. Lawal stated he would not pay even that, insisting that only family members should do so. He based his decision on his belief that paying kidnappers would perpetuate the cycle of violence and criminal activity. Lawal's comments come as bandit attacks and abductions continue to be a major issue in Zamfara, with multiple incidents reported in recent months.",
