"account": "The Indonesian government has decided not to permit American gospel singer Israel Houghton to perform in the country later this month due to security concerns and fears that the event could be used to express support for Israel. The coordinating minister for law, human rights, immigration and corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, announced the decision after consultations with several relevant ministries and agencies. The government's stance is not based on Houghton's religion or name, but on his expressions of support for Israel, which the authorities consider incompatible with Indonesia's foreign policy and its support for Palestinian independence. Houghton, a multiple Grammy winner, had visited Indonesia for a short tourism trip in January but did not apply for a visa or a permit to stage the concert in Jakarta. The organizers have yet to submit a formal application for the concert, scheduled for October 24, due to the decision made by the government. Indonesia is also monitoring developments related to Houghton's planned performances in Malaysia, where the police have advised the state government against allowing the concert to proceed for now, citing public reaction and community sensitivities.",
"summary": "The decision was unrelated to Israel Houghton's religion or name, but the government was concerned about his expressions of support for Israel.",
