"summary": "A trial is set to begin on Monday in Brampton, Ontario, for Parmpal Sidhu, who is accused of involvement in one of the largest gold heists in Canadian history. The 2023 theft, which occurred at Toronto’s Pearson airport, involved the theft of 6,600 gold bars weighing over 400 kilograms, valued at more than $20 million. Sidhu has been charged with theft over $5,000 and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. Two other men, Ali Raza and Amit Jalota, had their charges dropped by prosecutors. Arsalan Chaudhary, who admitted his role in the heist, was sentenced to four years in prison and required to pay back $22 million in restitution. The investigation, known as Project 24K, involved the stolen gold and currency being ordered from a refinery in Zurich, Switzerland, and transported via an Air Canada flight to Toronto. Chaudhary is not the only one expected to face trial; Archit Grover, another accused individual, is set to face trial later this fall.",
