"account": "261,000 spectators attended the Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix Gulf Air Bahrain race held in Malaysia 2026, setting a new record for attendance at the International Circuit Sepang (SIC). Sheikh Salman Isa Al Khalifa, Executive Vice Chair of the International Circuit Bahrain, confirmed the figure, which included the 103,000 spectators who watched the race at the iconic Malaysian circuit. Sheikh Salman stated that Formula 1's platform provides an opportunity to showcase Bahrain's culture and hospitality to fans across the region at this iconic Malaysian venue. He expressed gratitude to the over 260,000 fans who attended the largest event ever held at the International Circuit Sepang, praising their enthusiasm and energy. This number surpasses the previous record of 126,690 spectators set during the Malaysia GP in 2008. In July, Malaysia was confirmed as the host of the Gulf Air Bahrain F1 Grand Prix from October 2 to 4, following an agreement between Formula 1, the International Automobile Federation (FIA), and the Malaysian and Bahraini governments. The agreement ensures the continuation of the Bahrain GP on the 2026 F1 calendar after the race was canceled at the beginning of the season due to geopolitical tensions in the Western region. The SIC has organized the Malaysia GP from 1999 to 2017.",
