"account": "On September 25, Tallahassee hosted its first \"Putting with a Purpose\" golf tournament at Jake Gaither Golf Course, paying tribute to the late William E. Crumbie Sr., who was the first professional greenskeeper and manager at the historic course. Crumbie, who passed away in 2015, was a trailblazer in the sport, being the first to allow Black golfers to play freely at Jake Gaither when it opened in 1956. Taesha Brown, Crumbie's granddaughter and a champion organizer of the event, emphasized that the tournament honored her grandfather's legacy of discipline, perseverance, faith, and family. The golfing event was sponsored by several local businesses, including LUX Talk Business, Crumbie Care Services, KNicole Events, and Iron Golf. Brown's nonprofit, LUX Angels, which she co-founded with her sister Stephanie Crumbie, awarded scholarships to two FAMU students, Mariah Antsworth and Mikail Darmawan, for their involvement in the sport and community. Golfing legend Kris Hannah, a native of Smyrna, Georgia, who credits Crumbie for shaping his character and dedication to the sport, conducted a private lesson at the course. The day's activities, including a nine-hole golf game and a celebration of Crumbie's life, highlighted his commitment to the Tallahassee golf community and the importance of instilling values in the youth.",
