"account": "Elfyn Evans secured his first World Rally Championship title in a dramatic finish at the Rally Italia Sardegna in Sardinia, defeating his rival Oliver Solberg by a narrow margin. This victory marked the first British win in 25 years, following the legacy of Colin McRae and Richard Burns. Despite previous near-misses in the championship, Evans and his co-driver Scott Martin had been consistent performers throughout the grueling 2026 season. The Welsh driver's father, Gwyndaf, was also a British champion, but the title had eluded the family for a long time. Evans admitted that his father's missed opportunity fueled his determination to achieve the title and the dramatic finish in Sardinia brought him the long-awaited glory.",
