According to police, Wangui was found dead at her home in the Kiambaa area on Sunday, October 4. She had been left at the house by a family member while the relative went shopping. Upon returning, the family member discovered Wangui's lifeless body inside the house, lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen. Police found an axe, a panga, and two knives, all stained with blood, near the victim's body. Wangui's head was later discovered in the corridor.
