"account": "A 76-year-old Kuki man from Manipur's Kangpokpi district, Hemjang Haokip, was found dead on Sunday after reportedly being abducted by an armed group on Saturday, officials have confirmed. The unidentified armed miscreants captured Haokip from his paddy field hut and set it ablaze. According to the Khunkho Kuki Village Authority and the Kuki Youth Organisation (KYO), Haokip was abducted by NSCN-IM cadres around 3pm on Saturday. The village authority, along with Kuki civil bodies, have been demanding his safe return since the hut was burned down. The police are currently investigating the incident, and the body was recovered with both hands tied and suspected injuries from sharp objects. The Kuki bodies claim the alleged NSCN-IM involvement but cannot independently verify these allegations. Tensions between Naga and Kuki communities have been escalating since May 13, 2026, following separate ambush killings, resulting in around 50 fatalities from both communities.",
