"summary": "Two people were injured when a bridge over the Dnipro River was targeted during German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's visit to Ukraine on Sunday. According to New Voice of Ukraine, Merz arrived in Kyiv on the morning of October 4 and addressed Russian dictator Vladimir Putin with a call to stop the attacks on Ukraine.\n\nMerz made his statement outside the presidium building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which was destroyed by a Russian strike on September 28. He visited the site with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. While they were speaking with rescuers, another air raid alert sounded in Kyiv due to an attack by Russian jet-powered drones.\n\nGermany has announced an aid package for Ukraine, with different outlets reporting varying figures. New Voice of Ukraine and Al Jazeera report that Merz will announce an aid package that includes 1 billion euros ($1.1 billion) in military aid and 350 million euros ($394 million), while Channel News Asia reports a US$1.5 billion deal for weapons and energy support, and Al Jazeera also reports $1.5 billion in military and reconstruction aid.",
