"account": "Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has unveiled a comprehensive plan to combat the pressing issue of gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) in the province. The initiative includes the establishment of a dedicated Gender-Based Violence and Femicide Council, which will serve as a hub for NGOs and organizations fighting against GBVF. By fostering collaboration and bringing together diverse perspectives, the council aims to bring about new ideas, direction, and commitment to tackling this pervasive problem.\n\nIn addition to the council, Lesufi also announced the launch of the Green Door initiative, a shelter for victims of GBVF, providing them with a safe haven during their time of need. The province is also taking a proactive step to address the issue by temporarily halting the granting of liquor licenses to taverns, particularly in areas near schools where the proliferation of drinking establishments has been a concern.\n\nDuring a National Prayer Day and Memorial Day ceremony organized by the ANC Women's league at the Alberton Civic Centre, Lesufi emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in combating GBVF. He expressed gratitude for the provincial government's leadership in spearheading this crucial program, recognizing the diverse expertise and commitment required to effectively address this complex issue.",
