This announcement was made in a circular by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Musibau Babatunde, on Sunday. The government's Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olarenwaju, revealed the decision in Ibadan, the state capital, stating that it demonstrates the administration's dedication to the welfare, dignity, and professional growth of teachers. These professionals form the backbone of the state's educational system and play a crucial role in human capital development.\n\nThe work-free day is designed to enable teachers to fully engage in activities organized to honor their contributions, reflect on the advancements in the education sector, and foster unity within the teaching community. The government expressed its congratulations to all teachers on this special occasion and reaffirmed its commitment to policies and initiatives that promote teaching and learning across the state.\n\nNotably, similar declarations have been made by the Kwara and Ekiti State governments, also recognizing October 5 as a work-free day for their teachers.",
