"account": "Christa Pike, a 50-year-old convicted murderer, remains critically ill in a Tennessee hospital after her execution attempt failed on Wednesday. Her legal team, led by Stephen Ferrell, stated that doctors are still attempting to remove the remaining doses of pentobarbital from her system. Pike, who was sentenced to death in 1996 for the murder of Colleen Slemmer, has been on a ventilator and in critical condition since the failed execution. Her lawyer indicated that there is still no clear prognosis for her recovery and that she may not regain consciousness even within several days. Ferrell has not had any direct consultations with the medical team and has been relying on her medical power of attorney for updates. The Tennessee governor, Bill Lee, has suspended all executions for the remainder of the year, and the state's prisons chief has resigned in response to the botched execution. If Pike survives, her mental competence could be questioned. Her lawyer called for the governor to reconsider the sentence, stating that Pike has endured a torturous execution process and has spent over 30 years in prison, mostly in solitary confinement.",
