"account": "A drone strike in El Obeid, North Kordofan, killed a child and wounded twelve young ones in a shelter for displaced people, according to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The attack, described as a violation of international humanitarian law, targeted a place where children sought safety. Another drone strike on a university dormitory in El Obeid killed five civilians and injured 47 others. UNICEF Representative Angela Kearney expressed shock at the loss of safety for children in these shelters. The Sudanese Doctors Network, which reported the second strike, blamed paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for the attack, though they have not commented. Over 400 children were killed or injured by drone strikes in Sudan between January and September 2026, with at least five incidents in El Obeid alone. AllAfrica reports this incident, urging all parties to protect civilians and follow international humanitarian law.",
