"account": "The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has cautioned Nigerians against disseminating misinformation and propaganda that could exacerbate insecurity and incite attacks on innocent citizens. Dr Olusola Odumosu, the Commandant of the NSCDC Federal Capital Territory Command, issued the warning during a nationwide roadshow held in Abuja ahead of the 2026 World Public Relations Forum. The warning was made in a statement by Stanley Ogadigo, the Chairman of the NIPR FCT Chapter. Odumosu emphasized that unverified information, particularly on social media, could cause panic, intensify political tension, and encourage criminal activities such as banditry and kidnapping. He warned that sharing old videos depicting past crises, especially in places like Kano State, and providing instructions based on such content could incite further unrest. Odumosu stressed the need for Nigerians, especially the youth who are active on social media, to communicate responsibly and verify information before sharing it to prevent panic, confusion, and attacks on innocent people.",
