"summary": "ITREK, a collective dedicated to responsible trekking, environmental conservation, and welfare of forest-dependent communities, planted thirty native tree saplings at Ponmudi as part of the National Wildlife Week celebrations. The saplings, chosen for their ecological suitability to the Ponmudi ecosystem, included Vateria indica, Cullenia exarillata, Syzygium mundagam, and Syzygium stocksii, all of which are native to the Western Ghats. The event, supported by the Forest department and Ponmudi Ecotourism, also saw ITREK members conduct a plastic clean-up drive, removing plastic waste from the surrounding natural environment.",
