"account": "Mavis Hawa Koomson, a former Awutu Senya East Member of Parliament, has been chosen as the National Women’s Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP). She won the election with 738 votes, outpacing her main competitor, Mohammed Safia, who received 429 votes during the October 3, 2026, election at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The NPP’s National Delegates Conference, held to elect new national leaders, included a vibrant display of the party’s colors and was attended by notable figures, including former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Following her election, Koomson expressed gratitude for the support of delegates and indicated her intention to utilize her experience and leadership skills to bolster the NPP’s women’s structures. She emphasized the importance of unity among women within the party, citing her own experience of being saved by another woman's intervention. Koomson, who previously lost her parliamentary seat, expressed pride in returning to a national leadership role and highlighted her commitment to fostering collaboration between herself and her rival, Mohammed Safia, for the collective benefit of the party.",
