The officer, who works at Dongdaemun Police Station, was apprehended on September 16 on charges related to possessing sexual abuse material, explicit deepfakes, and creating and distributing such content. Investigators discovered over 5,600 images and videos, including 2,600 deepfakes, 1,600 pieces of child and adolescent sexual abuse material, and 1,300 illegally filmed videos. The case emerged during a Busan Metropolitan Police Agency investigation into a Telegram chat room where sexually explicit deepfakes were allegedly being shared. Police obtained a court order to carry out an undercover investigation of the chat room, with an investigator posing as a member to monitor the group.",
