"account": "Former Awutu Senya East Member of Parliament Mavis Hawa Koomson has been chosen to serve as the National Women’s Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP). In a close election, she defeated her only opponent, Hajia Safia Mohammed. The decision was made during the party’s National Delegates Conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Over 7,000 delegates participated in the voting process to select a new roster of national executives. Koomson’s election makes her the head of the NPP’s women’s division, responsible for overseeing women’s groups within the party’s framework and promoting their involvement in party activities leading up to the 2028 general election. This election was part of a larger effort to reorganize the party’s national leadership. In addition to Koomson, Justin Frimpong Kodua retained the General Secretary position, while Abanga Fuseini Yakubu won the contest to become the National Youth Organiser.",
