"summary": "Frank Strada, the head of Tennessee's prison system, has resigned following the failed execution of Christa Pike. The resignation comes three days after the attempted execution, which took place at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville. Governor Bill Lee announced Strada's departure, citing the need for an independent review of the incident and a halt to further executions in Tennessee for the remainder of 2026. Strada defended his department's handling of the procedure, stating that they carried out their responsibilities in accordance with established protocol.",
