"account": "Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, marked October 3rd as the onset of a prosperous era for the party, following the election of new national executives ahead of the 2028 general elections. Speaking at the NPP’s National Delegates Congress in Kumasi, Bawumia urged all candidates vying for positions to accept the election results and stay committed to the party’s collective goal. \"Please accept the results in good faith,\" he urged his audience.\n\nAlexander Afenyo-Markin, the party’s Minority Leader, addressed the congress, urging both the NPP and the Parliament’s Minority to hold the government of President John Dramani Mahama accountable for its decisions. He called for unwavering oversight responsibilities devoid of any fear of arrest or intimidation. Afenyo-Markin, confident in Bawumia’s leadership, described him as a \"doer and problem solver,\" urging party members to unite, support the reorganization process, and rally behind the party's flagbearer for the forthcoming elections. He remarked, \"The Lord is with us; come 2028, we shall prevail.\"\n\nFormer President John Agyekum Kufuor, delivering a video message, expressed that Ghanaians are eagerly awaiting the NPP’s return to power. He emphasized the party’s crucial role in steering the nation towards prosperity and transformation. Kufor advised delegates to carefully evaluate the qualities of candidates seeking national executive positions, emphasizing the need for leaders capable of restoring public confidence in the party. \"Let us, for now, select the national executive committee of the party on the careful examination to find out the sort of leadership that will enable us to regain the confidence of the people of Ghana,\" Kufuor urged delegates.\n\nFormer President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo also expressed confidence in the NPP’s prospects, predicting the party’s victory in the 2028 general elections, under the leadership of Dr Bawumia. \"With God’s guidance, we will emerge victorious as we did in 2000 and 2016 and form the government in 2028 with Dr Bawumia,\" Akufo-Addo stated.\n\nThe NPP is currently holding its National Delegates Congress and national officers’ elections in Kumasi, where delegates vote to elect the party’s next national executives. The congress also serves as a forum for the consideration of proposed constitutional amendments aimed at guiding the party's internal administration and organizational structure. These elections mark a pivotal step in the NPP’s broader reorganization efforts, as it strives to reinforce unity among its members and prepare thoroughly for the 2028 general elections.",
